I bought my first Kickside at 2006 Nats. I was surprised by this yo-yo! The performance is very smooth and the yoyo feels smooth since its made of Celcon. The interesting thing about this yo-yo is that although it is not made for thumb grinds, I found them better than some of the metal yo-yos! It is great for 3A and 5A also! I really liked its wide shape too. I highly recommend buying one of these. You will love it!

I originally bought the KickSide because I liked the Hitman and wanted a cheaper similar yo-yo to carry around. My first impression however was that the yo-yo has an inherently "cheap" feel to it: the Celcon feels softer than the hard plastic used in the inner part of the Hitman but what's worse is that there are some sharp ridges left over from the molding process around the rim. Removing these evenly with a sharp knife can be difficult. I removed these with a sharp knife, which did not completely do the trick, mainly because I wanted to avoid putting nicks into the surface.
How does it play out of the box? Like most yo-yos it plays very responsive. The bearing is the usual good YoYoJam size C bearing that runs well when broken in. The hybrid response system works well.
Since I am more into unresponsive yo-yos, I put in a Fat Lip Mercury bearing and two thin shims, making the yo-yo unresponsive and quite wide. This way the KickSide is a really great player. I am definitely impressed with the way it handles. Weight distribution is very good, resulting in long spin times as well as good balance. The unrounded outer edge makes the yo-yo feel a little wider than it is, could be one or two mm thinner for my taste.
One more thing I liked is that this yo-yo comes with a thumb grind groove. Could be a little deeper, but grinds well on my thumbnail (I took the pogs out).
An obvious choice to compare the KickSide to is the equally priced Lyn Fury. The Lyn is a bit thinner and not as "edgy" as the KickSide. The balancing of the KickSide however is way better than that of the Lyn Fury. See my review there for details. I did not like the Lyn Fury.
Bottom line: Thumbs up for this yo-yo. A great value for its relatively low price. Not a replacement for my Hitman, but not significantly inferior to it. Whether you are a beginner in need of a good inexpensive yo-yo for string tricks or an experienced player on a budget, you can't go wrong here. --HB 13:57, 31 Oct 2005 (PST)

IMO the kickside is a great yo-yo. It will perform all other peoples tricks and do your tricks. It has hybrid repsonse which everyone at least should love. It also has a thumb grinds groove like HB said and boy does this thing rock for thumb grind. It is also good for all other grinds. All in all this is a great yo-yo that performs like a 40$ yoyojam like a dark magic. There are also the lyn and the speed maker you can look at too. But i like the kickside the best. But you cant go wrong with either the lyn, speed maker, kickside or any other yoyojam plastic yos or any brand plastic yos at the range of 15 to 20 $.
