Under Mount

Also known as a front mount.

This is the most basic mount in frontstyle and probably the first a new player ever learns. It is the basis of tricks such as Braintwister and Double Skin the Cat.

This mount is described from the viewpoint of an observer standing to the left of a right handed player. For a description of the diagrams see YoYoGrams.

It all starts with a sleeper. Hold out your left index finger ...

... let the yo-yo hit the index finger ...

... swing around and up, hitting the string. The moment it does, you have to move the right hand down a bit (yellow arrow).

You will end up with a position like this. It is called the front mount.

[edit] Dismount

To get out of the front mount, you basically have to reverse the moves of the mount. Push your left index finger a little bit into the string, swinging the yo-yo forward.

When the yo-yo swings up the front, pull up your right hand, accelerating the yo-yo.

Let it swing round ...

... catapulting it to the front.

Tug on the string to return it to you from the front.
