John W Huber II

From YoYo Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

John W. Huber II (a.k.a. John Huber, "The Other" John Huber, or Juan Hubero ) is a competitive yo-yo player from Seattle, Washington. Since his arrival on the yo-yo scene in the summer of 2000, there has been plenty of confusion between him and John Huber, another yo-yo player out of Arizona. Who would've ever thought that there would be two players with the same name? It isn't even all that common. But it still happened, regardless.

Anyhow, this John Huber started yo-yoing in the summer of 2000, in the back of a tattoo shop in Bremerton, Washington. The name of the shop is Tattoo Technique. At first, he only messed around with yo-yos when he was hanging out at the shop, and didn't take it all too seriously. Between a couple of the artists, as well as a few other hangouts, an unofficial yo-yo club had begun to take shape. The club didn't have a name though until the 2000 National Yo-Yo Contest, when Jesse Avery came up with StrungOut in the Northwest. The name stuck, and the club has been around ever since.

Over the last several years, John Huber has evolved into a fairly successful Single A competitor. He was the 2006 Washington State Yo-Yo Champion, the 2007 PNW Regional Yo-Yo Champion, and even managed to land a clothing sponsorship deal with Ecko Unlimited. Footage of him yo-yoing can be seen in retail stores all across the country.

In the last year, he has decided to make the transition from hobbyist to professional demonstrator/street performer. He will be filming an instructional yo-yo DVD in the coming months, has a website under construction, and several other side projects in the works. 2008 is going to be a good year for Mr. John Huber. But 2009 is going to be even better.
