The Malleus is B.I.O.'s debut release. It is a dual toned, all aluminum yo-yo that is one half dark grey and one half dark red. The run was limited to 100 pieces, each one serial numbered. The coating is anodization, very slick, almost like talcum powder is covering the yo-yo. It also has thumbgrinding ridges. Response is recessed pad.

I won the Malleus (#38) at Iowa States, and it is one of my best metal yo-yos. It is a lot slimmer than most current metals, kind of similar to a Freehand Zero. The coating is amazing. There is absolutely minimal friction with your skin, allowing you to just let the yoyo spin on your finger, hand, or arm. The only downside I've found to the slick coating is that it can slide off of your arm if you don't have good control of it. As for string tricks, the thing is almost flawless. The slimmer shape allows you to do complex string maneuvers, and it is very, very smooth. I have mine set up with a dif-pad, so it doesn't snap back at all. The pad response allows for good suicides, but at least with dif-pads, binding can be a bit loose if your string is too old. At $85, it is a good buy if you can get your hands on one.
